WHO WE ARE AND HOW TO JOIN

A remarkable thing happens when you feel good about yourself... you gain the power to succeed.

And when you surround yourself with men and women who share your positive attitude, it becomes easier to maintain a good self image and the positive results that come with it. That is the basic principle that draws together the 160,000 members of an international service organization appropriately named the Optimist Club.

Optimists are unique people in today's world. They promise themselves to think only of the best, work only for the best and expect only the best. They remain strong so that nothing can disturb their peace of mind. Most importantly, they draw out the positive in everyone they meet.

Polar Bear Swim

Members share their positive energy through 4,200 Optimist clubs throughout the U.S., Canada and other countries in the world. they help each other assess and achieve goals. they conduct leadership and personal development workshops. They share ideas and skills. They help one another to be the best they can possibly be.

They don't keep it to themselves, either. Members practice -- and perpetuate -- their positive outlook through service to young people. Known as "Friend of Youth," Optimist Clubs annually conduct over 60,000 projects that provide more than 6 million boys and girls with positive opportunities. The Oratorical Contest, Junior World of Golf and "Get Real," a new Optimist sponsored anti-steroid program, are just a few of the projects that help steer today's youth in a positive direction.

Membership into the Optimist Club is by invitation from an active member. If you feel you and / or your spouse would be able to spend time and help out on projects or have ideas you feel would meet our criteria of helping youth, alert the Optimist member who sent you to this website (or gave you a pamphlet with similar info) and they will help you (if you need it) fill out the application and invite you to attend one of our meetings.

By becoming a member of an Optimist Club, you can better yourself and your community.
